Isle of Jura Distillery

0 / 5

The Isle of Jura distillery was opened in 1810 although the settlers in this Isle were allowed to distill whisky for themselves. They were however banned in 1781.

Once again after opening, the distillery was mothballed for some reason. It wasn’t until Robin Fletcher and Tony Riley-Smith brought it back to life in the 1960s that it began working again.

The distillery has won many awards for quality whisky production. A memorable one coming in 2006 when it was given a ‘Good Quality’ award at the Monde Selection.

Tour this distillery and gain invaluable knowledge into how whisky is made. They will teach you about using traditional processes and you also will sample several drams after the period.

Also you can check more Islands distilleries here.
